“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”
In this class, students learn how entrepreneurs are doing business startups today. Rather than exhausting countless hours on the development of a business plan, entrepreneurs are increasingly using tools and techniques such as lean startup, customer discovery, and a business model canvas. In this course, students learn the fundamentals of these concepts and learn the entrepreneurial skill set and mindset. The culminating project consists of students developing an idea for a business and participating in a (Shark Tank) competitive elevator pitch to a panel of judges.

"In addition to the curriculum, what makes this class so unique?"
Real-world entrepreneurs and business experts serve as coaches and mentors guiding student teams through the process of ideation, market research, and business plan development, and the legal aspects of running a business to get them geared up for Pitch Week. Coaches come into the classroom and share their expertise on the content of the class while teaching these entrepreneurial lessons to the students. Mentors act as an on-going resource and provide guidance and direction for students while cultivating the students' entrepreneurial spirit throughout the school year. A list of our current coaches and mentors can be found on the following pages. |
